Voting in European Parliament elections

To vote in European Parliament elections in the Netherlands, you must:  

• Have Dutch nationality;  
• Be a Dutch national or a national of another EU Member State;  
• Be at least 18 years of age;  
• Not disqualified from voting (information in Dutch). 

If you want to vote in the Netherlands, you must register with the municipality where you live. You can do this in 3 ways:

• Submit a request online (in Dutch). You log in with DigiD and submit your choice. Do this no later than April 23, 2024. 
• Submit in writing. Fill in the form Declaration of voting for the European Parliament in the Netherlands (Y 32). On this form, you declare that you are not voting in another country. You may only vote for the European Parliament once. There are also instructions in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish. You send the form and a copy of your valid passport or driver's license to: Gemeente Haarlemmermeer t.a.v. Burgerzaken, reply number 57, 2130 VB Hoofddorp. You do not need to affix a stamp. The form must be received by us no later than April 23, 2024.
• Submit by e-mail. You mail the completed Form Y 32 and a copy of your valid passport or driver's license to verkiezingen@haarlemmermeer.nl. The form must be received by us no later than April 23, 2024.

If you want to vote in your EU country of origin, you do not have to inform the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. For more information on how to vote in your country, see the website of the European Parliament.

Have you previously registered in the Netherlands for the European Parliament elections? Then contact the municipality in the Netherlands where you live or lived. Your registration will then be revoked.

Are you temporarily abroad during the elections for work, study or vacation, for example? Then you can vote by letter. You can arrange this through the municipality of The Hague.
